Our mission at Dirk Family Pharmacy is to provide the best pharmacy care by maintaining the highest educational and professional standards. As strong patient advocates, our belief is in the concept of primary care and the free interchange of information among all health providers, giving us the opportunity to use our clinical drug knowledge to benefit the patient. It is our intention to remain at the forefront of new technologies, techniques and information as we strive to meet the ever changing needs of our patients.

Objectives

The ultimate goal is the enhancement of patient care, which we hope to achieve through:

initiating a positive working relationship with local physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals
maintaining continuity of care
identifying potential and/or actual drug related problems
promoting patient participation in their own health care through individual patient and group drug and disease education
emphasizing disease prevention and maintenance rather than reactive treatments

Professional Services

As Primary Care Practitioners, we provide, in addition to traditional dispensary functions, extensive medication and disease state counseling to empower our patients in their own care. Hypertension, cholesterol, osteoporosis, diabetes, and asthma are just a few of the diseases we have targeted for extra patient education and monitoring as part of our services to strive for optimal patient outcomes. We utilize a combination of pharmacy and home visits best suited to the patient to attain this goal.

One of our pharmacists is trained in smoking cessation counselling (PACT). Appointments for an hour-long private session can be booked by calling the pharmacy. Pharmacists are now authorized to provide services such as extending refills on existing prescriptions and provide emergency supplies of prescribed medications. Pharmacists can also prescribe certain medications for several minor ailments. This is done while working in close collaboration with our local physicians. Our pharmacists are also certified to provide emergency contraception protection (ECP). These services are provided at no charge to our patients.

We also direct bill various third party insurance programs. Please present your coverage card when obtaining a pharmacy service.

Payments can also be made over the internet through online banking.

Please stop in for Venosan Custom Compression Stockings. No longer are people forced to wear the same old, ugly stockings. New styles and colors are available! These are excellent for people who spend a great deal of time on their feet, pregnant ladies, those prone to varicose veins, people who travel excessively, diabetics, etc.

Service to Outlying Areas

Prelate, Sceptre, Lancer & Abbey: Our courier delivers to the door (within town limits) Monday to Friday for a charge of $3.00. Please call before noon for same-day delivery.

Fox Valley: Our courier delivers to the door (within town limits) every Thursday afternoon at no charge. Please call before Thursday at noon.

Burstall: Next day mail delivery. Canada Post departs Leader at 9:20AM and arrives at Burstall by 10:15AM Monday to Friday. Postage charge is $5.00-$8.00 depending on envelope size. Please call before 9:00 AM for same-day service.

Eatonia: Our courier leaves at 1:00 pm Monday, Thursday, & Friday, and 3:00 pm Tuesday & Wednesday. Our courier delivers to the door (within town limits) at no charge; delivery to the post office is $5.00-$8.00 depending on envelope size.

Kindersley: Our courier delivers to the door (within town limits) every Friday afternoon.

If you don't live within town limits our courier can drop your prescription at an alternate location in Fox Valley or Eatonia at no charge (i.e.Awenydd Computer in Fox Valley and Bredy's Country Store in Eatonia).

Dirk Family Pharmacy has an extensive inventory of traditional drugstore items on hand, from shampoo to foot care, Carlton greeting cards to stationary, cameras, and 4X6 prints from any digital media instantly. A huge giftware section and one of the largest Saskatchewan galleries of Bernie Brown pictures will fulfill all your gift giving requirements.
